It’s been a few months since I last posted (although it feels like we’ve lived a few years since March). And a lot has happened since then. Personally, I defended my thesis, completed my PhD, and moved out of Colorado and back to North Carolina. I’ve gotten to spend a lot of time with my family and have taken some time to relax and enjoy the beach. Parts of my research have been published and the rest is, hopefully, going to be published soon.
But with all that has been going on in the world and my country, sharing personal milestones hasn’t seemed as important (or as appropriate). However, I do have research to share, and because I hope beyond hope that the work I have done over the last four years will have a positive and reaching impact, I believe it’s important to share my research.
So here’s what has become available since March:
- A technical report from my USAID/OFDA Graduate Fellowship in Humanitarian Shelter and Settlements that provides a concise summary of my doctoral research.
- My first first-author journal paper on household perceptions of post-disaster housing safety, published in the “Sheltering and Housing Displaced Populations” special issue of Sustainability.
- My complete dissertation. Four years of blood, sweat, and tears titled Post-Disaster Housing Safety: (Mis)Alignments Between Household Perceptions and Engineering Assessments.
